Chanuel, a physician in Avignon, wrote this treatise on smallpox in children in the vernacular for the general public. The work is divided into four parts: The first describes the causes, symptoms and progression of the disease; and the remaining three deal with the care and cure of the afflicted child. Chanuel cautioned against bleeding, particularly in young children, and outlined remedies for the effects of the disease. This copy does not have the frontispiece portrait, which is not present in all copies, including the one in the Wellcome Library.
