Walter Bradford Cannon (1871-1945) was an American physiologist, professor and chairman of the Department of Physiology at Harvard Medical School. He coined the term "fight or flight response," and developed the theory of homeostasis. He also made important contributions to the studies of wound shock as a physician in World War I, discovering that the blood of shocked men was acidic. Schock was successfully treated by infusing saline containing some larger molecules. (Wikipedia).
