The many distinguished contributors to this elegantly printed work included naturalists Richard Owen (1804-92) and Thomas Huxley (1825-95), and physicians James Paget (1814-99), James Young Simpson (1811-70) and William Bowman (1816-92). The Cyclopaedia was conceived and edited by Robert B.
