First Edition, Offprint Issue. Kelly, one of the “Big Four” founding professors at Johns Hopkins Hospital, is credited with establishing gynecology as a true specialy. During his career at Hopkins Kelly created new surgical approaches to women’s diseases and invented numerous medical and surgical devices, including those described in the present paper.
