First Separate Edition. Kelly, an evangelical Christian, was a "lifelong moral crusader" (DAB) against prostitution, alcohol abuse and other evils. In the present pamphlet he provided a 5-page preface to Winthrop Lane's article decrying two particularly heinous immoralities unearthed by a government survey--the widespread seduction of young women in the workplace, and the practice of institutionalizing unwanted illegitimate infants. The survey, commissioned by the governor of Maryland, found that over 80 percent of the babies admitted into so-called charitable institutions died within three months of admission.
